Whatever The Reason, This Is The Definition Of A Hero

I mentioned on Sunday, that I wanted to talk about James Shaw Jr., so lets go. If you haven't heard that name, it's for a good reason. The media isn't paying all that much attention to him. He stopped the shooting in a Tennessee Waffle House. He and a friend went out for the night, and wanted to grab some breakfast before heading home. They stopped at a Waffle House, directly after they entered, a gunman began shooting. He started outside the restaurant, but then soon moved inside. Shaw was grazed by a bullet on the elbow as he dove for the floor to get away, as the gunman pointed the gun down towards the ground to either reload or fix a jam. Shaw saw his chance, and ran towards the gunman, slammed the door into him and then wrestled his gun form him, burning his hand on the muzzle in the process. Once he had control of the weapon, he threw it over the counter. He would say that he was only doing this for himself, but he saved a lot of people that night from his so called selfish act. With the gunman disarmed, he rushed at him once again carrying him out the door away from the building. The Gunman ran off and was later captured by police.

James Shaw Jr. says that it was all form a selfish act, and that his only thought was that, if he was going to die, they guy was going to have to work for it. Shaw has a young daughter that he wanted to see again. Selfish it may have been, but it was also heroic. With that act over, you can see just how truly selfish Mr. Shaw is. He started a GuFundMe campaign for the victims a day or two after the shooting. 6 People in all were shot, and 4 died. Mr. Shaw is using those funds to pay for all the funerals of those that died, and the rest to help pay the medical bills of those who were wounded. To this date, he has raised $217, 378. That was raised in only 9 days, and the campaign is still going on. If you would like to donate to help the victims of this shooting, click on the following link gofundme

That is a true hero. He may not have meant to be one, and his actions may have sprung from self preservation, but isn't that where all heroism comes from. When you see an opportunity to action, take it. That is what Mr. Shaw did, for what ever reason it was, he acted, and because of those actions, he saved a number of lives on that night.

I have other things I could talk about, but I kind of want James Shaw Jr's story to stand by itself, with the exception of one thing. I mentioned a while back that I would switch it up from time to time and instead of FSOTW, I would do Favorite Thing of the Week. Well, it's time to switch it up. Matt and Kim have been featured heavily on here, and for great reason. I think they are the best. I saw them live, and it was an amazing show. I was pointed out in the crowd by Kim herself, (a big thrill for me), and they are simply the greatest couple ever and this next video is just one of the reasons why. This is Matt and Kim doing a remake of the dance scene from Pulp Fiction to a song of their new album called, Happy If Your Happy. Enjoy the glory that is the couple known as Matt and Kim.

     Peace in and goodnight.
